Education and Faclility
1990 Marcel attended Nederlandse Hippische Beroeps Opleiding (“Dutch Professional Equestrian Training”) in Deurne, Netherlands. For three months he underwent demanding academics, and for nine months he was a working student in the school recognized stable. He completed his education after four years in 1994.
1990-1991 Marcel worked at the riding school Hippisch Centrum Hillergsberg under Antony Sanders as a rider, trainer and groom, where his duties included training school horses, teaching lessons, competing in dressage and jumping shows, drill championship, and Entertainment Pas de Deux.
1991-1992 Marcel worked at riding school De Dric Linden under Theo Derks as a rider, trainer, groom and assistant manager. His duties included the training of school horses, sales horses, show horses, and breaking young horses to ride.
1992-1993 Marcel worked at Stallion Farm van de Oetelaar under Ton van Hees (5th level dressage rider) and Arnold Boerekamps. His function was as a rider, manager, and groom, and his responsibilities consisted of training show and sale stallions, artificial breeding, and breaking young horses.
1994-1996 Marcel worked as a rider, trainer, manager and groom at Ruitersport Centrum under Ivan Ferket, where he acted as manager and trained Grand Prix dressage horses, sold horses, and broke young horses for training.
Today Marcel van der Burgh is an active FEI rider showing his and client’s horses in USDF recognized shows around Florida and beyond.
Empire Marcel is a 5 acre farm in the prestigious Deer Run development adjacent to White Fences in Loxahatchee, Florida. The farm features a sand dressage arena, 16 stalls, and 8 paddocks. The farm is an easy hack to White Fences show grounds and a 20 minute trailer ride to either the Global Dressage show grounds in Wellington or the Jim Brandon facility in West Palm Beach. The farm is open year round. Boarding and training packages for both full year and seasonal clients.
